Confirmation is one of the seven sacraments through which Catholics pass in the process of their religious upbringing. According to Catholic doctrine, in this sacrament they are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened in their Christian life.
For “by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.” (CCC 1285)
Confirmation is the sacrament that gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.
Families requesting Confirmation at Seton Parish must be registered members. In order to make confirmation you must be in eighth grade or older and be in Catholic school or Religious Education the year of the sacrament. The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated each year by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington.
