Families requesting Baptism at Seton Parish must be registered members. Parents wishing to have a child baptized are asked to attend the Baptism Preparation program, which is held on the first Monday of the month from July through May. Godparents are also welcome to attend.
Baptisms Services are celebrated:What is Baptism?
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission. (CCC 1213)
Note: Baptisms are not celebrated during the Lenten season. A Godparent is to be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the church, at least 16 years of age, and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. If the Godparent is not a member of our parish, they need to obtain a sponsor certificate (letter of eligibility) from their parish. A practicing, baptized member of another Christian church may act as a Christian Witness in place of one of the Catholic Godparents.
