Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton parish was established on June 6, 1978 by Bishop Thomas J. Mardaga. In the early days, the founding members worshipped in the Pleasantville Elementary School. In 1980 the community moved to a new multi-purpose facility on the parish grounds off Route 7 in Bear. In response to the rapid growth of the area, the building was expanded and additional classrooms added in 1985. Father Clemens Manista was appointed the second pastor in 1985. With the continued growth of the parish, plans were developed under his leadership for a new church to accommodate the growing community. On February 1, 1998 Bishop Michael Saltarelli dedicated the new church, the result of many years of hard work, commitment and sacrifice. Father Charles Brown was appointed third pastor in 1998 followed by Father Roger DiBuo in 2007. The parish presently has over 2100 households with twenty different parish groups and organizations that support the ministry of the church. There are over 400 children in the Religious Education and Youth Ministry Programs. The parish has reached out to those in need by supporting a strong St. Vincent de Paul society and Parish Outreach program. Working together we have become a parish of strong community, prayer and compassionate service. See an artist's rendition of the new church. |
